Most any Saturday night in Seattle and there are
usually many options to hear good local music. So I did my usual
web surfing through various sites to find out who’s playing
where. As luck would have it the C & P Coffee Company in
West Seattle was hosting a wonderful young songwriter who I had
heard once and wanted to hear more of. Thus, the trip across
the bridge to hear Rebecca Cohen.
If you haven’t
had an opportunity to hear a performance at C&P Coffee it is a wonderful
room and a comfortable haven to relax by the fire with you favorite beverage
and enjoy the community ambience of this west Seattle Neighborhood Barista.
Make plans to go there soon.
Rebecca
was setup with a small PA just perfect for this room and shared a wonderful
assortment of originals and wonderfully arranged covers. How does one describe
a voice like hers? As long flowing multi-colored silk waving in the breeze
gently flowing up and down as the wind rises and falls. Her voice and selection
of songs beckon you to join in. I found myself wanting to harmonize on every
song she sang.
A few of
Rebecca’s songs of note are: This House ( a wonderful song of simple
joys of love, this certainly is a beautiful wedding song.) The Frenchman’s
Daughter, The 24 hour Church of Elvis, and my favorite Slip Away (A haunting
song of protecting ones heart from total collapse at the end of ….)
Rebecca
can be heard on the P&G Speakeasy compilation CD and around town. And hopefully
on her own CD very soon.
